This just breaking from FOX News, a truck carrying 3,000 kg of uranium has overturned on interstate 95 in North Carolina:

BENSON, N.C. — A tractor-trailer hauling about 6,000 pounds of low-grade uranium overturned Thursday as it exited Interstate 95 in Johnston County, North Carolina, authorities said.

The truck crashed onto its side while exiting onto Interstate 40, said Jason Barbour, the county's 911 director. One of two people in the truck suffered minor injuries, and no other vehicles were involved, he said.

Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Everett Clendenin said the truck was carrying Type A radioactive material.

"There's no threat to the public," Clendenin said. "It's a low grade uranium."

I'm guessing this was natural uranium on its way to Oak Ridge? Or maybe DU?

I'd guess that is reporter for low yield uranium ore. If it were purified or even depleted, it would probably have an armed escort which would have made the news article because it's showy.

That's what I'm thinking .. it was probably going to Oak Ridge National Laboratory for enrichment.

This is pretty big news. I wonder why it isn't getting more coverage? Especially with the holiday travel going on.

Seems the fight between Rosie and Donald Trump is bigger and more important?? UGH!

I think your article must have recently been updated. It now says where it was going.

The uranium was being transported by Portsmouth Marine Terminal, from Portsmouth, Virginia, to Global Nuclear Fuels in Wilmington, a coastal city about 130 miles (209 kilometers) southeast of Raleigh.

Sounds like everything is OK.

Yep, I didn't realize corporations enrich uranium fuel now, I thought it was still done at Oak Ridge. It appears this company is a subsidiary of General Electric.
