Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has lashed out at Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for his vilification of Ruud van Nistelrooy.
After Sunday's tempestuous clash between the two Premiership giants, Wenger slated United's Dutch striker for his nasty challenge on Ashley Cole.
Van Nistelrooy has since admitted his guilt but that has not stopped Ferguson slamming Wenger.
"The guy has obviously got a mental problem with Ruud van Nistelrooy for some reason? It's always Ruud van Nistelrooy," the United boss fumed.
"Ruud has accepted responsibility and held his hands up. Having seen the video of the incident, Ruud can't believe how high his knee was.
"He was trying to bring his foot down on to the ball to turn back into Sol Campbell, but he accepts his responsibility and we do too.
"Wenger obviously has a problem with him. I can't understand it, I really can't. But Ruud knows that he has the support of all the club and that's the
important thing."
Last season the match between the two sides at Old Trafford ended in a goalless draw after van Nistelrooy missed a last-minute penalty.
