Sir Alex Ferguson feels Argentinian signing Gabriel Heinze has been a "revelation" since joining Manchester United club last month.

Heinze actually signed during the summer but his arrival was delayed as he took part in the Copa America before helping Argentina win Olympic gold in Athens.

The defender made an instant impact, scoring on his debut at Bolton and Ferguson said: "He's been fantastic and I'm pleased about him. I knew he could defend well and that was why I brought him here and there was a good option in that I could play him as a centre back. He has done really well for me. He's got a toughness there."

Heinze has also proved popular with the Old Trafford support and Ferguson sees that as important.

"You can't kid fans. They love people who try and he is a determined, aggressive full-back and he enjoys playing."

Heinze is currently away on international duty and preparing for Argentina's World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay on Saturday and Chile next Wednesday.

I really rate this guy, strong, all action, gets forward, lovely crosser of the ball. Great signing to fill the problems leftback spot at United.

I knew he was good before he started playing for MAn U, just from the fact the papes described him as "Agrresive". Thats what makes a good player, like Roy Keane Rooney and Alan Smith, aggresiveness s the key.

Heinze has been amazing, looks like another excellent choice by fergie.

He looks a bit like trampy, or a rat, I can't decide!
Money well spent though.

If Rio hadn't got banned, I think they would have won the league last year. They had the best defensive record up till then and looked strong over the pitch. Looks like they are getting back to it now.
