Portugal's team doctor has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will play for them over the coming week, despite the fact he is carrying a groin injury.

The ebullient winger has only just returned from the Olympics and United were keen for him to be rested.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson could not simply withdraw Ronaldo from the Portuguese squad for their World Cup qualifiers with Latvia and Estonia.

Despite fears that Ronaldo could suffer further damage to his groin, that could mean surgery - Portugal insist he will play.

Typical, the only manager that likes Fergie is Fergie. Everyone else will do their best to make his team suffer. Ronaldo has been playing non stop for ages now, you'd think after forcing him into the olympics they'd give him the rest he deserves. If he gets injured Portugese heads will roll

He already is injured and they still are going to play him. There is medical evidence that he is carrying a injury and they have just ignored it. If he does get a further injury or it gets worse and is out for quite awhile watch Man United go for big compensation....

Well, I wouldn't blame them for trying to get compensation, but Fergie knows that that wouldn't be worth anything if he is out for the Champions League, he's one of his key players. It's a disgrace....:angry-smiley-034:

Well yeah i agree but that could be the arguement if they loose any games and he is out due to getting injured while playing for Portugal. I'm not sure how it all works but he is such a influential player that it could contribute to losing if he is out of the side.

Plus i want to see how many more tricks and stuff he has up his sleeve...:sport-smiley-019:

I remember Fergie saying that he has to hold back on the tricks and stuff that he can do and only introduce a few each season. Due to the fact that players would get use to them if he was doing the full range of tricks he knows.

Haha, thats what I like about Ronaldo....when he first appeared, he wouldnt stop doing them, but now that Fergies tamed him.........it's a joy wondering what he'll pop out next. If he keeps developing, he'll keep defenders on their toes for a good few years

Its not a joy.....it's bloody amazing what he can do. I havn't seen a player for years to be able to pull off the stuff he does...

Joe Cole has shown glimpses of it, Ronaldinhio can do it and i can't think of many more. Maybe figo or Zindane but thats about it...

But the difference is, he is the youngest player who can do that. By the time he's Zidanes age...........He'll either be unstoppable, or burn out and become another one season wonder. Maybe if he was playing for Chelsea he would, but I think Fergies got the measure of Ronaldo.......He won't let his talent go to waste.
