Record signing Nicolas Anelka and England hopeful Shaun Wright-Phillips will not be sold by Manchester City even though manager Kevin Keegan is desperate for cash to reinforce his under-strength squad.

Monaco coach Didier Deschamps has already admitted he has spoken to Anelka about a move to back to France, while Tottenham launched a speculative bid in excess of £2million for Wright-Phillips, whose current City deal still has two years left to run.

In the aftermath of Saturday's encouraging victory over Lazio, Keegan claimed Monaco 'would need a lot of money' simply to get to the negotiating table over Anelka, and the City camp are equally bullish about their chances of keeping Wright-Phillips.
