Chelsea: Cech: i nearly signed for arsenal

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has admitted he was left dejected when he was denied a move to Arsenal four years ago, but is now delighted the transfer to Highbury didn't materialise.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had lined up a deal to bring the impressive Czech to Arsenal from Sparta Prague but was left frustrated when the custodian was not granted a work permit.

Cech ultimately went on to join French outfit Rennes before completely a big-money move to Stamford Bridge last summer.

If they had managed to get him, maybe it would have been different for them this season. Bit late now to start moaning about it though...

i wonder how he got a work permit for rennes but not for arsenal, maybe he wasnt going to be first choice there ? lol

Sour grapes i think. Arsenal missed out on most prob one of the best in the world. If they wanted him that badly, they would have stepped up the chase and not let Chelsea sneak in the back door.
