Championship table-toppers Wigan Athletic have revealed they failed in an outlandish bid to land Scott Parker.
Paul Jewell's ambitious outfit asked Chelsea to take the England international on loan, in a bid to bolster their promotion ambitions.
Parker has found himself on the periphery of Jose Mourinho's side this term but has recently won a return to favour and started the last two games.
The former Charlton favourite was brought to Stamford Bridge under the previous tenure of Claudio Ranieri and has spoken of his disillusionment
regarding a lack of opportunities under Mourinho.
However, with a congested fixture list coming into the New Year, Chelsea are reluctant to release one of their trusted squad members.
