Les Ferdinand has left Bolton Wanderers and is now set to join a club closer to his home in the south.

The 38-year-old had a clause in his contract allowing him to leave in January and now both player and club have agreed to part ways.

Ferdinand joined Bolton in the summer after leaving Leicester, but he has started just one game - although he has made 11 substitute appearances.

After one goal in the white of Bolton, manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed his departure.

When he left West Ham i was a bit gutted as he did excellent for us. I thought he would do good at Bolton but it looks like he was just used sparingly. I wonder if he will be able to find a new club, maybe Palace or Norwich might be able to use him...
