Sam Allardyce is set to end his managerial career at Bolton after agreeing an improved five-year contract with the club.
The news was revealed on the eve of the fifth anniversary of his reign, which coincides with his 50th birthday.
Allardyce has long stated he has no wish to remain as a manager after 55.
In the interim, though, there are pots and medals to be won, according to chairman Phil Gartside.
He believes Bolton can go on a push for a place in Europe this season, especially now Allardyce - recently a target for Newcastle - has confirmed he
is staying.
