Sylvain Distin's agent has confirmed Aston Villa are keen on signing the Manchester City defender. Villa are believed to have had a bid in the region of 5.5 million for Distin rejected by City.

Distin is thought to be David O'Leary's top summer transfer target as he looks to bolster his defence for next season. The 27-year-old enjoyed a fine season with City last term and Newcastle failed in a bid to sign him during the last transfer window in January. Distin's agent Willie McKay admitted that Villa are chasing the former Paris Saint Germain ace.

thats quite alot of money, if they do sign him for that price, i dont think they will be able to get Bellamy aswell.

O'Leary has changed his ways, there was a time he didnt buy defenders, it just used to be strikers and now its defenders, thats Hughes and this possilbe Distin.

maybe its just about pricing him out of a move?

why sell when you dont want too is maybe what Pearce is thinking.

Though, i reckon that is a good offer and O'leary must be pretty disapointed that didnt work. I wonder if he will come back with another bid?

Hehe...

Well he was one of their better players last season. You can't blame Pearce for not wanting to lose him and it looks like they might hold on to Wright-Phillips aswell..
