Aston Villa are sweating on Thomas Sorensen's fitness ahead of Saturday's clash with Premiership leaders Arsenal.
A back injury prevented Sorensen playing in Denmark's World Cup qualifier with Albania at the weekend and he was sent back to his club for treatment
after it was decided he would not be fit to face Turkey on Wednesday.
"There is no realistic possibility I will manage this and in this situation it's best to have things sorted out as early as possible," said the
28-year-old.
Villa also have a doubt over on-loan striker Carlton Cole who dropped out of the England Under-21s squad to face Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
Cole lasted just 19 minutes of Friday's 2-0 win over Wales after aggravating an ankle injury, but England Under-21s boss Peter Taylor is confident he
will recover in time to face Arsenal.
"He aggravated an ankle injury. It's happened to him a few times with Aston Villa but he thought he would be all right and we did too," Taylor told
the FA's official website.
