There have been many resignations in the last year under Bush. These good and principled people simply could not take the lies and subterfuge any longer. They refused to represent an administration that cherry-picked/manipulated intelligence to fit their wanted scenario to invade Iraq. These people quit, walking away from their careers in order to blow the whistle on these thugs. That's no small thing. How many of us would make such a sacrifice? They have my complete and highest esteem for their integrity and courage to speak out.

Arianna Huffington wrote this piece, and as usual, she's a hoot. Checkit out..

Good-bye, Mr. President: The Secret Resignation Letters

By Arianna Huffington, AlterNet
December 3, 2003

Author's Note: I've been working around the clock on my new book, "Fanatics, Fools and Alpha Males," which will be published in March by Miramax Books. In the spirit of the season, I'm sending you a succulent slice from the book. It's a collection of resignation letters written by disaffected members of the Bush administration who so disagreed with administration policies that they preferred the uncertainty of the unemployment line to toeing the party line.

I've also taken the liberty of including excerpts from what I imagine the first drafts of these letters might have looked like.

So thanks to these unsung heroes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mike Dombeck, Forest Service chief, resigned March 27, 2001, after four years on the job.

What he wrote in his resignation letter: "It was made clear in no uncertain terms that the administration wants to take the Forest Service in another direction ..."

What Mike Dombeck wrote in the first draft of his resignation letter: "It was made clear in no uncertain terms that the administration needs to kiss a little logging-industry ass, having gotten nearly $300,000 in donations during the 2000 election (10 times more than Al Gore). Mr. President, after all that bark-bussing and timber-tonguing, it's a wonder you didn't get splinters in your lip or a very painful STD (Sequoia Transmitted Disease).

A really good read. I think this quote just about says it all:

"Don Rumsfeld is an idiot. Don Rumseld is a megalomaniac. If we lose this war, blame Don Rumsfeld. I hate Don Rumsfeld. Kill Don Rumsfeld dead dead dead; maybe with a blunt object like a ball-peen hammer"

If a major corporation had this sort of employee moral, it would be out of business in a week, and yet, some people insist this administration is the best thing to hit the country since sliced bread. When people that are in a position to be more informed about Bush's foreign policy than we could ever be say things like "The Bush White House is more concerned with the free flow of cheap oil than restoring power, water or democracy in Iraq" - you know something's wrong.

We should all send letters to Bush.
Then we can have members judge them and see which ones the funniest.
Iv always wanted to send him one.

No need to go any further. Why would an intelligent man read something written by an idiot?

Huffington may have written the article, but she didn't write the letters themselves. Unless, of course, you were implying that everyone who resigned was an idiot.

those 'first draft' pieces youll note, WERE NOT WRITTEN BY THE AUTHORS OF THE LETTERS. they were thrown in as if they were, however the author of the book placed them there. i dont like this person.
