[qoute]Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd has rejected talk that the club have made a bid for Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Reports have suggested that Newcastle offered Manchester City cash and players in a bid to lure Wright-Phillips to St James' Park.

Shepherd has admitted he is in the dark over the reports and insists they have not made any moves for the England international.

I can't see him going there at all. For one thing the amount that is supposedly offered is quite a bit below what he is worth.

If you look at the Newcastle side they need to do alot of work with it and they are at a crossroads. They need to bring in quite a few quality players and Wright-Phillips would be one... Is that the same report that says they have offered Bellamy, 10million and another player? (o'brien or robert)

they have offered those players to man city for wright phillips? in a report?

its really how much do man city want to keep him, hes a good player and they wont be able to replace him i dont think. so they will want as much as they can get.

it sounds like a good deal that if true is good. i dunno about Newcaslte though, is that a step up?

Yeah i read it in a paper that they offered two players plus cash for him. I think Robert said he didn't want to go there though..

and yer, its looking like Robert is off to bolton and O'Brien to Pompey.

if think hes going to stay where he is now to be honest. i cant see spain happening this season, and arsenal, chelsea and man utd, it seems like they aint going for him. and no1 else can afford him i reckon

Newcastle supposedly offered £6,000,000 plus Bellamy plus Robert (which will now change).

Chelsea are poised to offer £15,000,000 and Pearce has said that he would accept the Newcastle offer because the board wont give him the full 15 from Chelsea, but if he takes the N/csle offer he gets two new players for his squad!
