in his last season too, aww its a real shame

Newcastle United have sacked manager Sir Bobby Roson just a month into the new season.
The former England boss has been "relieved of his duties" at St James' Park after five years at his hometown club.

Newcastle have endured a poor start to the new season, and a series of spats with key players has not helped Robson's cause.

aww, i feel sorry for him,

Sir Bobby Robson has revealed his disappointment at losing his job at Newcastle United.
The veteran manager was "relieved of his duties" on Monday morning after Newcastle's poor start to the season.

The 71-year-old was full of regret at not being given the chance to finish the job at St James' Park with the former England boss lined up to step down at the end of the current campaign when his contract expired.

I feel a bit sorry for him aswell but the game is all about money now and Robson wasn't delivering the results. I would have thought he would make it to the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see who will be Robson's successor. The Premiership rivals will be queuing up to distance their own bosses from the St James' Park hotseat. It was the wrong time to get rid of him as there won't be any decent managers available and they will have to pay through the nose to get a decent one.

i think there is a lot of talk about gerard houliier until the end of the season or george graham. i dont think the fans would want either of them

I see today that they have asked for permission to talk to Sam Alladyce of Bolton.

I can't see him leaving to be honest after all the work he has done there and will the club let Newcastle speak to him?

Yeah he is.

I think they are saying they have made no approach to Big Sam. Most proberly just tapping him up to see the response.

He'd obviously lost the dressing room, alot of player unrest so he had to go really. I don't think it was down just to the results.

One rumour is that Terry Venables will take over temporarily until Shearer takes over the role, I think that's possible as I can't see Big Sam , Steve Bruce or Steve Mclaren leaving the respective clubs. Another rumour is that Keegan will go back hehe, that's just too funny.

John it's more than a rumor now. Venables was a 50-1 outsider to take the job, now the bookies have him at 4/5 on to take the hotseat. They are talking about a caretaker manager role for him.

He did that role before in helping Robson steer Middlesborough from the drop. Also he knows quite a few of the players and despite his dodgy past he knows how to get results. Maybe a good short term choice as there is not many decent managers available.

Damm they wouldn't take Keegan back, his gun ho tactics worked in the lower division when they got promoted. But as soon as he played with the big boys they soon got rid of him. He has done the same at Man City, look how well they are doing since he has been there..

Yeah Venables was at Leeds and things didn't work out that great for him there but the ship was already sinking before he was manager....
