Portsmouth striker Teddy Sheringham will play his last game for the club on Saturday, BBC Sport understands.
The 38-year-old has struggled for fitness and form since scoring six goals in his first nine starts.
And he has been pushed onto the Pompey bench following the arrival of Lomana LuaLua, who has forged a promising partnership with Aiyegbeni Yakubu.
Although the club has not yet confirmed his departure, it is thought that Sheringham is aware of the situation.
And the former England international is now being linked with an offer to play football in Qatar.
