Former Manchester United goalkeeper Fabien Barthez will retire from football after the 2006 World Cup. The 33-year-old Marseille stopper is currently in Clairefontaine ahead of France's qualifying double against Switzerland and Israel.

We'll he can sit back and see what its like to not play for awhile and see if he likes it. He just got banned for three months for spitting at a ref..

Fabien Barthez claims his six-month ban will not change his approach to the game. The former Manchester United goalkeeper, now with Marseille, has been suspended for spitting at a referee during a friendly in Morocco. However much of the ban, of which three months will be suspended, will be served in the close season.

Good, he got away with going to the toilet on the pitch. He must think he can just get away with things. I'm glad, he should have got banned for a year...

No it was at Marseille, the play was up the other end of the pitch and he walked out his area and flopped it out down the side of his shorts and took a leak. I guess people were watching the play and not him but the cameras picked it up.
