Real Madrid released a statement insisting that striker Fernando Morientes, a reported transfer target of Liverpool, is not for sale.
Morientes, who spent a successful loan spell at Monaco last season, has found it difficult to break back into the first team at the Santiago Bernabeu
Stadium, with Ronaldo, Raul and Michael Owen, all ahead of him in the queue for a starting place up front.
Morientes has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield to play under former Valencia coach Rafael Benitez, and the player's agent Gines Carvajal
was in Liverpool to watch the English club's Champions League fixture with Deportivo La Coruna on Tuesday.
