European: Fifa name World Player list

Fifa have unveiled their shortlist for World Player of the Year, with Thierry Henry, and Wayne Rooney amongst a wealth of Premiership stars included.

Rooney is one of six British players in the list, with Real Madrid pair Michael Owen and David Beckham, Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, Chelsea's Frank Lampard and Ryan Giggs of Wales also included.

Ten players from current Premiership clubs are named, Arsenal's French pair Henry and Robert Pires, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy from Manchester United, Liverpool's Milan Baros and Didier Drogba from Chelsea joining the British stars.

Ten players from Italian clubs are included, 12 from Spain's La Liga and three from the German Bundesliga.

Current holder Zinedine Zidane is again amongst the nominees, along with an astounding six of his Real Madrid team-mates.

Great list Teflon...
but true...

Henry has to win it hands down but there is a few getting close on that list. Rooney and Ronaldo will be much closer after this season is finished...

yer, am thinking henry and ronahdinho for it, i would give it to henry but am thinking, maybe cos ronnie is the internaitonal man, does more at that level, could it swing his way

I can see your thinking, he is a brilliant player. I just think Henry is so big right now, it's the perfect time both playing and PR wise to have him win the award from Zidane.
