European: World super soccer league...possible???

After watching the UEFA Champions league on t.v these last few weeks, there has been some superb games,not just skillful but AWSOME.

With the likes of Manchester UTD and Arsenal in the u.k, Real Madrid, AC MIlan, Juventus,Borrusia Dortmund etc etc it is great to watch but im sure with football(sorry soccer) becoming huge all over the world, it would be great if FIFA could set up a world super league.

There has already been talk of setting up a European league but i would like to see our top European teams take on the rest of the world.
Brasil, Mexico, Argentina and any other top footballing nations that have slipped my mind at the moment, would take soccer to another dimension.

With the USA doing so well in the last world cup, what is the state of soccer over there, how many leagues have you got and who are the top teams?

USA soccor I don't really keep track over here. I mean there are a couple of different leagues. With some states. Kindof like football. But basically they are the players on the World Cup team just seperated among different states. I don't keep track of soccor that much, but I did watch the world cup, and the USA did a very good job. I think that the USA could take on some teams.

Teams the USA can beat...

Belgium, Portugal (already done that), Ireland, Scotland, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Italy, Germany (done that a few times), Yugoslavia, Croatia, Sweden, Switserland, Mexico, South Korea etc...

Teams the USA will have great trouble to beat (not impossible though):
England, Brazil, Argentina, Czech Republic, Netherlands, France, Colombia, Russia (on a away game)

And about the super league... It would be very complicated because you have to take time into consideration, the time it takes for the team to travel across the planet for one game and then to play at home in the weekend.

Personally I think it would be excellent to have a world league, but it's near impossible due to the lack of time. (Unless we let the teams play online with fifa2003 )

How would they work the game's would they just play once a week? Like Bandit said you have to take in acount the time travel. Unless they just play in a certain area all season long.

I think that a european league may be possible,but i don't know about a world league...As the others have said with the travelling,time zones and that it would make it near impossible...Unless as Ben said all the teams were based in the same place for the season...

The european league would be more realistic as most of the countries are close so the travelling once a week wouldn't be that bad...

If they did have it it would be a joy to watch ( if you like soccer) !

Point taken i didnt think of the time differences, that would be impossible to overcome. So european super league looks like the only possibility which would see the top teams in the Premiership leaving to form the superleague.

(This would help my teams chances if that happened, what do you think TRD?)

Sir would that be staying up this season or overall...?

If it is overall then we might have a chance of winning a Title which one i don't care,then last one was the inter two bob cup...No seriously i think it would be bad for the lower Teams,TV right's,prestigue,gate money and the loss of some of the best players would happen to all teams if they had a european league..
It would be Man U,Arsenal,Liverpool,Chelsea for definate that would go which would be bad for football at home..

Yeah i suppose it wouldn't be good for the game in the long run.
Still, i reckon it will happen one day soon coz theres sooo much money involved and lets face it, thats the way the game is heading.The money factor is getting more and more obscene each year.

Yes i agree with you there,what with the transfers fees dropping,the clubs need to make money else where.The drop in the wages doesn't really matter as the top clubs still pay big money...
Having a european league would generate more money for the bigger clubs and i can see it happening also..

That's what I don't find fair... I would like to see for example, Rayo Vallecano becoming primera division champs; Tottenham or Fullham become premier league champs; NAC, AZ or FC Utrecht becoming dutch champs... etc...

It's always the same teams becoming champion. No underdogs allowed, it seems...

The last time anyone other than Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord became Dutch champs was in 1980 (AZ)...

Last year, the Anaheim Angels were world series champions, in 2001, the Arizona Diamondbacks, low budget teams...

I would love to see low budget teams become champions in European soccer...

I agree with you bandit, i would like the lower teams to win something..It's been the same here Arsenal and Manchester United winning the premier league nearly every year...The only time you have had a exception is in the Worthington cup over the last few years when other teams have won...We have our FA cup Final soon with Arsenal v Southampton,i hope southampton win!
