Crystal Palace look to have offered Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Shawky a trial with the Premiership club.
According to Egyptianplayers.com, The Eagles are thought to have sent a fax Shawky's club Al-Ahly on Thursday inviting the Egypt international for a
week's trial with the Selhurst Park outfit.
The news comes as Premiership rivals Norwich City were reportedly showing interest in the defensive-minded midfielder, with manager Nigel Worthington
seemingly prepared to offer 1.2 million euros for Shawky.
Palace, however, may be looking to swoop the North African from under the noses of The Canaries by making a bid themselves, should the midfielder
impress manager Iain Dowie during a trial spell.
It remains to be seen if both Premiership clubs firm up their interest in Shawky during this month's transfer window, though Al-Ahly are thought to be
reluctant in letting one of their top players leave the club.
