Ajax have confirmed an interest in former striker Nwankwo Kanu with the West Brom star a 2005 target for the Dutch giants.
Ronald Koeman's side are keen to add the Nigerian's experience and flair to their line-up with The Baggies bracing themselves for an approach in
January.
The African attacker expressed his disappointment when Gary Megson left The Hawthorns although new manager Bryan Robson has insisted he wants to keep
Kanu at the club.
"We have not yet made any formal contact with West Brom," admitted general director Arie van Eijden, but this is expected to change in the New
Year.
Ajax are currently fourth in the Eredivisie table, ten points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven, and they disappointed hugely in the UEFA Champions
League.
