Birmingham boss Steve Bruce wants Clinton Morrison to repeat his international form in the Premiership.
Morrison has struck in each of his last two appearances for the Republic and Bruce said: "We would like a few more goals from the lad.
"At a difficult time last season he came in and did exceptionally well but maybe he didn't get the goals he should have done.
"I wouldn't be surprised if he does well this year again. That's the opportunity for him. Hopefully he can grasp the chance again this season."
Morrison did not even get off the bench in Birmingham's 2-2 draw against Newcastle United on Sunday.
He has now effectively found himself fourth in the pecking order despite the loss of Mikael Forssell for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
He is below Emile Heskey, Dwight Yorke and David Dunn who all played against Newcastle.

Not the front man I'd go for, doesn't score enough goals and with Heskey playing you need a box finisher.
