Southampton's striker problems continue to mount after it was revealed Peter Crouch could be sidelined for up to six weeks.
Crouch landed awkwardly on his knee during Saturday's goalless draw with Manchester City, and scans have revealed swelling and a series of complicated
minor problems.
Club physio Jim Joyce told the club's official website: "It's not just a tweak, a sprain or a tear but several areas of damage.
"He came down with all his weight and pushed things back on themselves. We are hopeful he will not need surgery but we won't know until he goes back
to the consultant."
Saints chief Steve Wigley has already lost James Beattie to a broken toe, Marian Pahars is out with an ankle problem, while Brett Ormerod is currently
on loan at Leeds.
Big, big waste of money.
