By Anthony Evans and pic by Mr Will/Hogan Photos: Clinton Woods may not be the pound-for-pound best fighter in Great Britain, that would be either unbeaten Joe Calzaghe or 'Legend Killer' Danny Williams, but the Sheffield light heavyweight is probably the best promoted boxer not only in the UK, but perhaps all of Europe. Former undefeated British, Commonwealth and European champion Woods is a top 10 fighter, sure, but even the likable box-puncher himself would probably admit he's been extremely well manoeuvred by promoters Fight Academy to get three bites of the cherry between September 2002 and February 2004.
And now comes rumblings that Woods has landed a FOURTH world title shot in just over two years. With IBF champion Glen Johnson certain to be stripped of the title (which he won by besting Woods over 12 rounds in February) for accepting a mega-money showdown with Antonio Tarver in December; IBF No.2 Woods will be matched with No.1 Rico Hoye for the vacant title.
