Roy Jones Junior sat on his stool for fully 30 minutes after getting starched by that Glen Johnson right hand Saturday night. Knocked cold for the second time in 13 weeks, the former four division world champion waited, waited, waited for his head to clear before finally clambering to his feet and picking his way back to the backstage area of the FedEx Forum.

Proud to a fault, Jones refused point blank to be carried from the ring in what appears to have been his final fight in a glittering 52 fight career. He also refused the aid of a wheelchair as he made his way from his dressing room to a waiting ambulance.These appear to be the last acts of defiance of his Hall of Fame career. Quite simply, Jones, 35, has lost the ability to take a shot. He has to go.
