Boxing: Hopkins v De La Hoya: Who Wins?

The big fight, Generation X's Hagler v Leonard, is now just hours away from happening at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Emotion dripped off the chiselled features of both defending middleweight kingpin Bernard Hopkins and challenger Oscar De La Hoya at Wednesday's press conference; we're all set for what could be an all-time classic encounter of what Jack Broughton called in a 1847 London newspaper ad 'the mystery of boxing'.

This will be a great fight, it has Fight of the Year stamped all over it. What makes it better is it's the richest non-heavyweight title fight in history and sees two of the biggest names in the sport going head to head.

Have a feeling Ady is right. Oscar's going down.

I am going to have to go with De La Hoya. But I think his tv career will change his perspective of fighting and weaken him for his upcoming fight against hopkins. Tito Ortiz did the same thing in the UFC by pursuing a movie career but got his a$$ kicked by Lidell in what was one of the greatest knockouts of the year. Will De La Hoya share the same fate. His responsibilities for "The Next Great Champ" will certainly take its toll. He will IMO share the same fate and loose to Hopkins.

I'm a huge De La Hoya fan & am gutted that he's lost again to Hopkins.
