Coventry middleweight Andy Halder out-pointed local hero Roddy Doran at the Liquid Nightclub in Shrewsbury on Sunday night to win the vacant WBF Intercontinental middleweight title.
Referee Paul Thomas, the soul scorer of the 10 round bout scored the contest 96-95. Halder scored a knockdown in the third round, which turned out to be the difference between the two in a very close fight.
Doran's trainer Errol Johnson told SecondsOut: " It was a close contest but I thought my man just nicked it. The difference was the knockdown in the third round, which I did not think was a knockdown."
