Boxing: Cotto ready to shine

Four years after coming out of the 2000 Olympics as the top amateur boxer that Puerto Rico has produced, Miguel Cotto goes for his first professional title when he takes on Kelson Pinto for the WBO junior-welterweight title at the new Puerto Rico Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Saturday September 11

"I believe that the opportunity is coming at the right time. We have never been in any hurry to get the title shot, but now that it's here we have to take advantage of it," said Cotto, who 20 professional fights into his career is already a rising star in his own country.

The fact that Cotto will be headlining the first major international event in the new state of the art Miguel Angel Agrelot Coliseo is proof of his popularity.

"It will be an honor for me to be part of this great event and I'm looking forward to performing in front of all the people that have always been behind me since my amateur days. I want to give the fans a great show and a new world champion for Puerto Rico," added Cotto who will be seeking the WBO 140lbs title against Pinto.
