While WBO heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster is concentrating fully on his inaugural defence against little known Kali Meehan (September 4 in Las Vegas), another former sparring partner of the champion's - but a much bigger name - is waiting impatiently in the wings for his shot at the title.
James Toney is the WBO's No.1 contender and while Lights Out's preferred target is WBC champion Vitali Klitschko, a fight with Brewster is also on the cards for the three-division IBF champion. Toney's promoter, Dan Goossen, told SecondsOut recently that he will do everything in his power to pressure the WBO into mandating Brewster to face Toney.
