After years of far-fetched, and a little frightening, rumours Riddick Bowe confirmed his ring return after nearly eight troubled years at a press conference Thursday. Weeks past his 37th birthday, 'Big Daddy' announced he will fight Jeff Lally, 23-23-1 (10) at the Fire Lake Casino in Shawnee, Oklahoma on September 25.
Bowe, 40-1 (32), retired in 1996 following two brutal beatings at the hands of Andrew Golota, the Foul Pole who actually lost both Bowe bouts on disqualifications. However, so horrifically one-sided were the bouts that Bowe, slurring his words alarmingly in his post-fight interviews, retired from the sport.
