Two-time World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John "The Quietman" Ruiz (40-5-1, 28 KOs) will defend his title against Andrew Golota (38-4-1, 31 KOs) later this year at a site to be determined. Ruiz is the first and only world heavyweight champion of Latino heritage.
Ruiz and Golota, currently rated No. 5 by the WBA, fought on the same card April 17 in New York City. Ruiz registered an 11th round TKO of Fres Oquendo, while Golota fought IBF heavyweight title-holder Chris Byrd to a draw in a fight many felt was won by the Polish strongman.
