From Las Vegas back to his hometown Leverkusen, Germany: Former WBO champion Felix Sturm will compete in an international middleweight contest three months after his sensational showdown against Oscar de la Hoya on September 18 at Wilhelm-Dopatka-Halle.

Sturm, 20-1 (9), shocked 14,000 spectators on June 5 at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas and millions of boxing fans watching on countless TV stations in different countries when he dominated the highly favored "Golden Boy" Oscar de la Hoya during their WBO middleweight championship.

Unfortunately after twelve action packed rounds the three judges at ringside calculated a two point lead for de la Hoya. Experts and journalists from the US, from Germany and from many other countries almost unanimously designated this result as highly controversial and questionable. HBO commentator Larry Merchant was even quoted saying: "Sturm would have needed to knock de la Hoya out to get a draw."
