Veteran cutman Al Gavin suffered a massive stroke on Monday and is in critical condition at Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, Long Island.

Gavin has been one of the most respected and loved figures in boxing for decades.

Doctors are not optimistic about his chances for recovery.
