Boxing: HBO interested in putting Sturm on Oscar v Hopkins card, page 1

Following his tremendous performance against Oscar De La Hoya earlier this month, German Felix Sturm has become a commodity in the USA. The 25-year-old's first appearance in America may have ended with the loss of his WBO middleweight title but the controversial nature of the 116-114 (thrice) decision has established the 2000 Olympian as a player at 160lbs.

"Felix is currently on vacation waiting to hear back from HBO and the WBO," Universum Promotions spokesman Dr Christoph Rybarczyk said. "HBO are very interested in Felix after his performance against Oscar and Klaus-Peter Kohl (Universum boss) is talking with the Americans about putting Felix in a significant fight on the De La Hoya v Hopkins undercard."

Another impressive appearance on a major US bill - especially the September 18 'Collision' between De La Hoya and Undisputed Champion Hopkins - would cement Sturm's reputation as a big part of the middleweight division's future.
