Audley Harrison, who stopped Poland's Tomasz Bonin in nine rounds to retain his WBF heavyweight title at London's Alexandra Palace on Saturday night, almost pulled out 48 hours before the fight.

The Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medallist revealed after the controversial victory - booed by the fans who believed referee John Keane stepped in too soon - that he had spent six hours in hospital, where he underwent tests after suffering chest pains on Thursday.

Harrison, who went home that night after being given the all-clear to fight, blamed the problem on his troubles outside the ring after the the BBC told him they would not be screening his future fights.

The self-promoted fighter admitted he was affected by the decision and his attempts to try to set up a deal with promoter Frank Warren, one of his fiercest critics, for a clash with British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Matt Skelton.
