Has anyone seen this Polish fighter? Please tell me about him. His record is incredible & he's about to make boxing history - so why haven't I ever heard of him?

Dariusz Michalczwski hunting for 3 different world records

Going for Rocky Marciano�s 49-0 record

With a record of 48-0 Michalczewski is only one step shy of equalling the legendary all-time-best record of Rocky Marciano, the former heavyweight world champion, who retired in 1955 after 49 consecutive victories.

The 35-year-old Polish already left the world records of most great fighters of his own light heavyweight class far behind him. American Bob Foster, for example, previously known as the most successful light heavyweight champion, made a total of 15 successful defenses of his 175 pound world title between 1969 and 1974.

Dariusz Michalczewski broke Foster�s record long ago: With a third round knockout over Montell Griffin in 1999. Up until today he already made 23 successful defenses of his WBO light heavyweight crown between 1994 and 2003.

Michalczewski�s fight against Gonzalez will be defense #24.

Close to equal Joe Louis� 25 successful title defenses

This makes the Hamburg based fighter getting close to another world record. The most title defenses from any world championship boxer were made by the legendary Joe Louis who defended the world heavyweight title a total of 25 times between 1937 and 1950.

Michalczewski has the chance to equal this record should he defend the 175 pound title of the World Boxing Organization on October 18 and afterwards once more.

Extending 9 years, 2 months title reign by Archie Moore

No world record in boxing appears to be safe from being broken by the indestructible Michalczewski. In November of this year he will have the longest reign of any light heavyweight world champion in history. Currently this record is still being held by the great Archie Moore who reigned 9 years and 2 months from 17.12.1952 to 10.02.1962 when the NBA and the New York State Athletic Commission stripped Moore of his titles.

In November Dariusz Michalczewski who won the WBO light heavyweight crown in September of 1994 will have caught up with Moore.

Furthermore �The Tiger�s� accomplishments include reigns as WBA and IBF champion in 1997, as well as holding the WBO cruiserweight crown in 1994.
