The night was sodden with rain and the skies remained cloudy until early morning when with grave doubts, the Race Organizers made their way to
Zurrieq uncertain whether to hold the appointment for the penultimate race in the Annual Championship Cycle.
However on their routine inspection of the course stretching from Zurrieq to Maqluba approaching Qrendi and wending back along the panoramic road to
Zurrieq, they noticed a change in the wind which was blowing clouds away from the South and bleakly exposing some hopeful sun rays. They decided to
hold the event; in fact between the inspection at 0630 and the race start at 0730, the road surfaces were drying fast until by an hour later bright
sunshine rewarded the persevering cyclists who braved a light wind over a 100 km course.
