HOLME VALLEY'S Frances Newstead has missed out on a place in the Great Britain cycling squad for the Athens Olympics.
But while speaking of her disappointment at her omission she underlined her determination to further her cycling ambitions.
The 31-year-old had hoped to fill the third and final spot in the GB women's endurance squad but that place has now gone to Leicester's Rachel
Symington, who will join Cheshire-based Rachel Heal and Nicole Cook, of Wales, in Greece.
"Obviously I'm disappointed but I gave it my best shot and it was always going to be hard as I had some tough opponents," said Newstead, "but you have
to accept it and move on," she added.
And moving on means Newstead will be looking for a good performance in the national road race in Wales on July 26 before racing in the World
Championships in Italy and - more long term - bidding for a place in the squad for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne 2006.
