Rugby, Australian Football: Vikings swoop for Peters

Widnes Vikings have completed the signing of South Sydney scrum half Willie Peters.

The 25-year-old is expected to arrive in the UK on Sunday morning and is likely to make his debut against his former club Wigan Warriors at Halton Stadium next Saturday (ko 6.05pm).

The Vikings have been able to bring in the play-making half-back due to the retirement of Robert Relf who has been told he needs operations on both ankles.

Relf bowed out after making his 74th appearance in a Widnes shirt against St Helens last week. He has missed just one game since joining the Vikings from North Queensland Cowboys in 2002.
