Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was fined 65 per cent of his match fee for showing dissent against a ruling by New Zealand umpire Billy Bowden during the fourth day of the first test match against Australia.

Sehwag was charged under the ICC's code of conduct by the umpires for showing on-field dissent after Bowden had ruled him out leg before wicket.

Television replays showed Sehwag had edged the ball from pace bowler Glenn McGrath on to his pad. Sehwag pleaded guilty.
