England selectors have elected to rest Andrew Flintoff and Marcus Trescothick from November's one-day tour of Zimbabwe.
With fast bowler Steve Harmison unavailable after pulling out because he is morally against the policies of Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe, the absences of Flintoff and Trescothick rob the team of further experience.
But while he was offered the chance to also stay home, spinner Ashley Giles has decided to take part in the tour, along with rookies Ian Bell, Kevin Pietersen, Matthew Prior and Simon Jones.
