BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Mark McGwire's score improved in his second round in a major amateur golf tournament, but it wasn't enough for him to
advance to match play at the 102nd annual Western Amateur.
The former home run champion followed his opening-round 82 with a 6-over 76 Thursday, missing the cut in the stroke-play portion by 15 strokes. The
field of 156 was trimmed to 64.
"I feel like I'm a baby in all of this,'' said the 40-year-old, who quit playing baseball after the 2001 season.
I guess he should have stuck with baseball eh.
