Corey Simon was a no-go for the Eagles' preseason game against the Steelers on Thursday, but he expects to be ready for Philadelphia's season
opener.
Simon was diagnosed with a plantar fasciitis foot injury Monday.
"I'm going to take the next two weeks to really work myself and really stress running around in practice, and I should be all right for the Giants
game," Simon told the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Eagles open the season Sept. 12 against the New York Giants.
If Simon does play, defensive coordinator Jim Johnson isn't convinced he'll be able to lean heavily on the defensive tackle. Johnson suggested to the
Inquirer that Simon might not be able to play as much as normal in the season's early games.
Simon was named to the NFC's Pro Bowl team in 2003 and led the Eagles with 8 sacks.
