A neat story I came across the other day, the one I read was an actual news report though, but this source is just as good.

Referring to computer components or computers themselves as "masters" and "slaves" might prove a problem with A.I. technology advancing so fast.
If ever a sentient A.I. gets produced, I think it would take high offense to such terms.

No matter how smart it is it will still have the programming to know that we are its masters, and all you would have to do is not allow it the ability to overrwrite that part, or any other part we wanted to keep, in a read only part of the memory, safely keeping them in check. At least that should work in theory, i know not everything always does......
