Two young ice hockey players who were vying for time with their National Hockey League clubs last season have been charged with uttering death threats after an incident involving a nightclub doorman in downtown Toronto, police said Monday.

Defensemen Luke Sellars, 23, of the Atlanta Thrashers and Trevor Daley, 20, of the Dallas Stars were to appear in court Monday, said a police statement.

Daley is from Toronto and Sellars is from Schomberg, Ontario, about 35 miles north of the city, police said.

The charges stem from an incident involving a doorman at a nightclub called Money.

Daley split his season between Dallas and the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Utah Grizzlies. He played 27 games with the Stars this year, collecting one goal and five assists. He played 40 games with the Grizzlies, scoring eight goals and adding six assists.

He was a high scoring defenseman during his junior career, where he played with Sault Ste. Marie of the Ontario Hockey League.

Sellars has played only one NHL game with the Thrashers, in the 2001-2002 season. He has played almost all of his professional career with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
