Baseball: Girlfriend testified Bonds used steroids

Is this a surprise at all? How exactly will Barry deal with this news, I wonder.

Barry Bonds' ex-girlfriend told a grand jury in San Francisco last week the Giants outfielder confided to her in 2000 that be began using steroids, two sources told the San Francisco Chronicle for Sunday's editions.

Kimberly Bell, 35, was subpoenaed by the prosecutors in the BALCO case and testified for about two hours with full immunity from prosecution, her attorney told The Chronicle.

at this point i don't think there is much question as to wether barry used steroids, i think that it is time for him to come out and admit what everyone strongly suspects, history will treat him better if he tells the truth now, instead of compounding his problems by lying about it, this is a lesson that mark macgwire learned the hard way and pete rose has yet to grasp

I think this is worse than the Pete Rose issue. What Pete did was wrong, very wrong. But as a huge fan of his growing up, I can say that he set the all-time hits record by playing 110% every single pitch. He earned that record, fair and square. Bonds is approaching the most coveted baseball record ever, the all-time homerun record. If everyone's suspicions are right and he has been using steroids, then he obtained his record by cheating.
