Baseball: Rays could trade reliever

The Tribune's Scott Carter reports that the Devil Rays could swap Bobby Seay, Jorge Sosa, Jose Diaz, Trever Miller or Rob Bell for a left-handed hitter or a middle infielder. The Rays are said to be interested in the Nationals' Nick Johnson or the Orioles' Jay Gibbons.

The Devil Rays have been impressed with the progress of their young pitching staff this spring. Apparently, so have other teams. If the right deal comes along, the Rays hope to acquire a left- handed bat or an extra middle infielder in a trade, most likely for one of their young pitchers.
