Although steroids maybe have played a factor in Bonds's success, he still have one of the sweetest and most compact swings in baseball. When he was
younger, his father had him do a drill where Barry would have a glove on and stand in his batting stance. His dad would throw a pitch and Bonds would
catch it in the area where his bat would be had he swung. This improved how he would choose a pitch. Also too, Bonds has a short swing, literally
starting from his back shoulder blade and ending about a foot in front of his chest. Because of this, he basically punches the ball. But what makes
the ball go far for him (other than allegedly using steroids to build himself up) is his hip action. He is able turn his hips in a blink of an eye,
which has a domino effect on his swing. He swings his hips quickly, which acclerates his bat, which crushes the ball, which generally lands in McCovey
Cove and finally, which generally has a swarm of fans in kayaks with fishnets all in a mad scramble.
