Baseball: Pedro - Free Agent?

Red Sox star Pedro Martinez filed for free agency.

Martinez just completed a $90 million, seven-year contract. The Red Sox have exclusive negotiating rights with him until Nov. 11, the day before other teams can discuss money with the three-time Cy Young Award winner.

let's just hope that he doesn't end up working for the evil empire

i think he wants more money than the red sox are going to give him. right now he is trying to guilt trip them into paying for him, because he talks about how much he loves boston and if they really want him then they will pay for him. i don't know, to be quite honest, i hope lowe and pedro are both gone. i just hope curt makes it through the surgery, and i think our money will be better spent on pavano.

I don't think he's old enough to play for them yet, is he? You have to be 1 or 2 years away from retirement to get traded to the yanks.

You really think he will go to the Yankees? Are the Yankees good enough for him? The Yanks can't even make it to the World Series.

Just saw that Red Sox have offered Pedro 2 years, 25 mil. Trying to confirm, and to see if he accepted.

might have offered it, but is pedro going to take that deal? he has the option of testing the market, and i think that any player would want to test the market to see what his value is.
