Baseball: the Washington Grays?

rumor has it that the new team in washington will be called the grays, paying homage to the Homestead Grays of the negro league who played there, the name senators is owned by the texas rangers whose owner tom hicks has reportedly offered to "sell" back to the new team, other names under consideration are the nationals (nats) or the Americans
i think that the team nickname should stay with the city, is their a sillier team name than the nfl's arizona cardnals? the cards should still be in st louis, the rams name should be held till there is a team back in LA

roswell nm is getting a new class a baseball team next year and of course they are going to be called the "aliens"..lol..got one of their tee shirts when i was down there a couple of weeks ago...

Didn't joshue gibson play for the Greys? Him and bonds are the two people I would do anything to see play. Too bad Joshua died before he had a chance to play in the majors with Jackie. It's rumored he had 950+ homers in the Negro Leagues.

I think the name greys is a great honor for the negro league.

it is one of the names under consideration, the mayor of dc has spoken against the name senators since the district doesn't have any, and the name is owned by the rangers and would have to be bought from them, i think grays is a great choice
